Hawkhurst Golf Club
Hawkhurst Golf Club lies close to the village of Hawkhurst, on the Kent side of the Kent–East Sussex border in the High Weald, an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty characterised by small fields, ancient woodland and scattered oast houses. The TN18 postcode places the club within this border country, where the Weald's sandstone ridges and clay valleys have historically made travel slow and settlements small, a pattern still visible in the area's narrow lanes and dispersed farmsteads. Hawkhurst itself grew around the smuggling and cloth trades of earlier centuries and today sits roughly midway between Royal Tunbridge Wells and the Sussex coast at Rye, in an area popular with walkers exploring the Weald's network of footpaths. The wider High Weald extends across this part of Kent and into East Sussex, its undulating, well-wooded terrain distinct from the open downland found closer to the coast, and the course occupies a quiet, rural stretch of that landscape.
