Henllys Golf Course has offered 18 holes at a par of 71 since opening in 1996, making it a relatively recent addition to golf in this part of north Wales. It lies near Llanfaes, close to Beaumaris, in an area where the Gwynedd mainland meets the Menai Strait, the narrow tidal channel separating Anglesey from the rest of north-west Wales. Beaumaris itself, a short distance away, is known for its castle, one of a ring built by Edward I, and for harbour views across the strait towards the mountains of Snowdonia on the mainland side. As a course founded in the mid-1990s, Henllys is younger than most of its neighbours in the region, several of which date back over a century. Golfers in the area often pair a round here with the wider attractions of the Menai Strait coastline and the mountain scenery inland, both within a short drive of the course.
