Holyhead Golf Club
Holyhead Golf Club is located on Holy Island, the small island connected to the rest of Anglesey by causeway and bridge, at the far north-western tip of Wales. The town of Holyhead itself is best known as the ferry port for sailings to Dublin, and the surrounding coastline is shaped by exposure to the open Irish Sea. Anglesey — Ynys Môn — is a low-lying island separated from the North Wales mainland by the Menai Strait, and the coastal path here takes in dramatic cliff scenery around South Stack, a few miles from the club. The area draws walkers and birdwatchers as much as golfers, thanks to the RSPB reserve at South Stack and the wider Anglesey Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty designation covering much of the coastline. Holyhead Mountain, the island's highest point, rises close by, giving views across the Irish Sea towards Ireland on a clear day. For visitors, the club sits within a short drive of the ferry terminal, on a natural route between Wales and Ireland.
