Kirkby Lonsdale Golf Club
Kirkby Lonsdale Golf Club takes its name from the market town of Kirkby Lonsdale, which sits on the River Lune close to the point where Cumbria, Lancashire and North Yorkshire meet, though the club's postal address falls under Carnforth. The town is known for its ancient Devil's Bridge over the Lune and for a townscape of Georgian buildings that has changed little in appearance for generations, sitting near the western boundary of the Yorkshire Dales National Park. The surrounding countryside combines the limestone country typical of the Dales with the greener, pastoral valleys that lead toward Kendal and the southern Lake District, giving the area a transitional character between the two national parks. This part of Cumbria is well served by the A65 and the West Coast main line, drawing visitors moving between Lancashire and the Lakes as well as those exploring the Dales themselves, and golf here occupies that same in-between country.
