Lansdown Golf Club

🤍

Lansdown Golf Club sits on high ground to the north of Bath, in an area long associated with Lansdown Hill and its open, elevated landscape above the city. The course was designed by Harry Colt, whose layout is arranged so that, despite the hilltop position, the walking between holes remains manageable rather than arduous, with views extending over Bath and the surrounding Somerset countryside from several points on the course. The clubhouse offers food and wine alongside the usual member and visitor facilities, and the club runs a professional's shop with PGA-qualified tuition available on site. Lansdown's position above Bath places it close to Lansdown Racecourse and the wider area historically linked to the English Civil War battle fought on the same hill. The elevated, open ground gives the course a different character to the valley and parkland courses found elsewhere around Bath, with wider sightlines and a more exposed aspect. As with Bath Golf Club a short distance away, Lansdown benefits from Harry Colt's design work in this part of Somerset, part of a small group of his courses concentrated around the city. Visitors are welcomed at the club, whose facilities are considered a strong part of the overall visit.
