Linden Hall Golf Club forms part of a hotel and leisure complex near Morpeth in Northumberland, combining an 18-hole golf course with a four-star hotel and a separate spa and leisure operation on the same estate. Golf sits alongside the accommodation and dining side of the business, making the course as much a resort amenity as a stand-alone club, aimed at guests staying on site as well as local members and day visitors. The surrounding Northumberland countryside gives the estate its setting, with the hotel's dining rooms looking out over open farmland rather than an enclosed courtyard or car park. Morpeth itself lies a short distance to the south-east, a market town on the River Wansbeck that has long served as an administrative centre for south-east Northumberland. The combination of golf, spa facilities and hotel accommodation under one ownership allows Linden Hall to package golfing breaks alongside wider leisure stays, a model more common at country house hotels than at traditional members' clubs. Northumberland's relatively low population density compared with much of England means the course sits within open, unhurried countryside, a contrast to the more built-up golfing venues found closer to Newcastle further south along the coast.
