Milford Haven Golf Club
Milford Haven Golf Club sits above the town of Milford Haven, on the northern shore of the waterway that gives the town its name, in Pembrokeshire. The Haven is one of the largest natural harbours in Britain, a deep, sheltered estuary that made Milford Haven an important fishing port in the nineteenth century and later a centre for oil refining and, more recently, energy terminals. The town itself was laid out on a planned grid in the 1790s, unusual for a Welsh coastal settlement of its size, and looks directly out over the water rather than sitting back from it. Pembrokeshire more broadly is defined by its coastline, most of it protected within the Pembrokeshire Coast National Park, and golf clubs across the county tend to trade on views over the sea or, as here, over the Haven itself. With a postcode of SA72 3RX, the club lies within easy reach of the town centre and the waterside path that runs along much of the Haven's shore.
