Newbury Racecourse Golf Club, formally known as Newbury & Crookham Golf Club, is among the older established clubs in England, founded in 1873 in the Berkshire town of Newbury. The 18-hole course plays to a par of 69 and measures just under 6,000 yards, laid out through mature woodland on the edge of the town. The round takes in a variety of hole types, from a short par three regarded as one of the more attractive on the course to a hogsback fairway on the back nine and a demanding approach that rewards longer hitters willing to attack the green. Two par fives bookend much of the back nine, with the 18th serving as the course's closing hole. Several holes require an elevated tee shot, adding changes in height to a layout otherwise set among well-established trees. The club maintains a scorecard and handicap table for visiting golfers alongside its regular membership offering. Newbury itself is known chiefly for its racecourse, after which this club takes its name, and sits at the western end of Berkshire close to the Hampshire and Wiltshire borders, giving the golf club a location shared with one of the country's prominent horse racing venues.
