Fleet lies in north-east Hampshire, on the sandy heathland of the Bagshot Beds that also underlies Camberley and Bagshot across the Surrey border, with the heath and pinewoods of Fleet Pond close by. North Hants Golf Club opened here in 1904, the course laid out by James Braid and opened by Princess Alexandra of Teck. Harry Colt redesigned it in 1913, and Tom Simpson made further changes in 1930. In its early years the club also had lawn tennis courts and croquet lawns, in the manner of an American country club. Donald Steel added three new holes in 2001, and a new clubhouse opened in 2003; the club marked its centenary on 6 May 2004, exactly a hundred years after the opening. Fairway watering was approved in 2011 and completed the following year. Tom Mackenzie redesigned the par-5 3rd hole in 2018, splitting it into holes 3a and 3b, with the revised layout opening in May 2019. The US Open champion Justin Rose was formerly a member here. The club takes bookings from societies and corporate golf days.
