Royal Eastbourne Golf Club

🤍

Royal Eastbourne Golf Club is set on the western side of Eastbourne, in the lee of the South Downs where the chalk hills run down towards Beachy Head and the English Channel. The BN20 postcode covers this part of the town, close to the downland that separates Eastbourne from the villages of the Cuckmere Valley. Eastbourne developed as a planned Victorian seaside resort, and the downs above it, now part of the South Downs National Park, remain largely open grassland and sheep pasture cut through with chalk bridleways. The club's position gives it both the shelter of the hills and easy reach of the seafront and town centre, with the South Downs Way passing within walking distance. Beachy Head and its lighthouse lie a few miles along the coast to the south-west, while the historic town of Lewes sits inland along the downs to the north-west, making this a well-connected stretch of the East Sussex coast.
