Silverknowes Golf Club
Silverknowes Golf Club sits on the northern edge of Edinburgh, close to the shore of the Firth of Forth near where the River Almond meets the estuary at Cramond. This stretch of the Edinburgh coastline looks out across the Forth toward Fife, with the wide, flat expanse of the estuary shaping a landscape quite different from the hillier ground found in the city centre around Arthur's Seat and the Old Town. The Silverknowes and Cramond districts developed largely as residential suburbs in the twentieth century, built along the coast road running west out of the city toward South Queensferry and the Forth bridges. As a course within the city boundary, Silverknowes gives Edinburgh residents access to golf without travelling out to the county courses further afield, occupying flat, open, shore-facing ground that is exposed to the wind coming off the Forth in a way the city's inland parks are not.
