About this course

Southampton golf club was established at the Municipal course in 1935. Prior to this the club was nomadic playing competitions on other courses, much like a society today. Some events were even staged on the Common on Sundays. The Sports Centre, and the Golf Course, was the brain-child of Sir Sidney Kimber. He envisaged the council providing leisure activities for the people of Southampton after the Great War and work finally started in the thirties.

The club dates back to 1935, giving it roughly 91 years of history in Southampton.

You will find Southampton Golf Club at Municipal GC Pavilion, Southampton, SO16 7IE. It also shows up in our guides for Southampton, Portsmouth, and Oxford, since those cover the wider area. The club runs its own site, linked in the sidebar, with booking and membership details. A map further down the page marks the exact spot for satnav and directions.
