Sutton Bridge Golf Club

Sutton Bridge Golf Club is based on New Road in the Lincolnshire village of Sutton Bridge, close to Spalding and near the point where the River Nene meets the waters of the Wash on the county's eastern fen coast. The surrounding landscape is classic Lincolnshire fenland, low-lying and largely reclaimed from marsh and tidal estuary over past centuries, with wide skies, straight drainage channels and flat, open farmland stretching out towards the coast. Sutton Bridge itself grew up around its crossing of the Nene and later around port facilities built where the river meets the Wash, giving the village a maritime and engineering history distinct from many inland Lincolnshire settlements. Golf courses across this part of the fens tend to make use of the flat ground and open exposure typical of reclaimed land, offering a different test from the downland or parkland courses found elsewhere in the county.
