Taunton Vale Golf Club
Taunton Vale Golf Club is set across 156 acres of gently rolling Somerset countryside, offering both a nine-hole and an eighteen-hole parkland course within the same grounds. The rolling ground gives way to views of the Blackdown Hills from parts of the course, a range that forms much of the southern skyline around Taunton, and the varied terrain provides a different test between the two layouts, giving golfers a choice depending on the time available or the standard of challenge sought. Away from the course, the club operates a fully equipped, licensed clubhouse, serving food to suit anything from a casual snack after a round to a business meeting or a private party, making the site useful for non-golfing functions as well as golf itself. This combination of two courses and function facilities on a single site gives Taunton Vale a broader role than many single-course clubs in the area, catering to casual visitors, societies and members with differing amounts of time to spend on the course. The Vale of Taunton Deane, in which the club sits, is known for its productive farmland and its position between the Blackdown and Quantock Hills, and the course's rolling fairways reflect that landscape closely throughout the round.
