The Shropshire Golf Centre

🤍

The Shropshire Golf Centre lies on the outskirts of Telford, a new town developed through the twentieth century from a cluster of older industrial settlements around the Ironbridge Gorge. Shropshire itself is one of England's larger, more sparsely populated counties, bordering Wales to the west, with a landscape that shifts from the Severn valley and its market towns to the wooded hills of the Shropshire Hills further south. Telford's postcode district, TF2, sits north of the town centre, within easy reach of the road network connecting to the M54 and on towards Shrewsbury, the county town. Golf has a long history across Shropshire's towns, with clubs spread from Oswestry and Shrewsbury down to Ludlow near the Herefordshire border, reflecting a county built more around market towns than large cities. Telford's own mix of new-town infrastructure and surrounding countryside gives it a somewhat different character to the older county towns, shaped by planned estates, industrial heritage sites and green corridors threaded between the housing.
