Wessex Downs Golf Club

🤍

Wessex Downs Golf Club is located in the RG14 postcode area of Berkshire, around Beenham, a village in the Kennet valley between Newbury and Reading. This part of west Berkshire sits within reach of the North Wessex Downs, the chalk upland that gives the club its name and stretches across much of the county's western half toward Wiltshire and Hampshire. The Kennet valley itself is lower and gentler ground than the downs proper, following the river and the Kennet and Avon Canal on their route between Newbury and the Thames at Reading. Newbury, the nearest larger town, is known for its racecourse and for the wider agricultural and semi-rural character of west Berkshire beyond the M4 corridor. Operating on a pay-and-play basis, the club sits among a scatter of villages in this part of the county rather than within a single large settlement, drawing players from the Newbury and Reading area alike.
