Bearsden Golf Club

Bearsden Golf Club, on the north side of Glasgow around five miles from the city centre, was established in 1891 and currently plays over nine holes. Its layout is unusual for a nine-hole course in having seven alternative greens, effectively giving two different rounds from the same set of tees, and the course carries a Standard Scratch Score of 62. At the time of writing the club has been developing a new and considerably longer course on the same site: a provisional plan puts the combined two-circuit length at 6,100 yards, with the design work carried out by Graeme Webster of Niblick Design, and opening scheduled for 2025. The clubhouse looks out over the first tee and the closing greens of both nines, and operates through the day and into the evening, staying open later in summer than in winter. It serves as the focus for the club's medal rounds and championships as well as for a Gala weekend held each year in late August. Membership is aimed at a broad range of golfers, and the club's recent history has included both the clubhouse rebuild and drainage work carried out across the course itself.
