Bowood Park Golf Club
Bowood Park Golf Club lies just outside Camelford in north Cornwall, a market town on the edge of Bodmin Moor and close to the rugged Atlantic coastline around Tintagel and Boscastle. This part of Cornwall is defined by high, exposed moorland inland and dramatic cliff scenery along the coast a few miles to the west, with granite outcrops, rough grazing and deep wooded valleys where rivers cut down toward the sea. Camelford itself sits on the River Camel near its source, in country long associated with Arthurian legend and, more recently, with country estates converted to hotel and leisure use. Golf courses in this stretch of north Cornwall typically make use of the varied contours thrown up by the moorland fringe, combining open, wind-exposed holes with more sheltered ground lower down the valley sides, a contrast shaped as much by Cornwall's Atlantic-facing climate as by the underlying granite geology of the area.
