St. Kew Golf Club lies inland from Cornwall's north coast, closer to the Camel estuary and Padstow than to Bodmin itself, in a parish that takes its name from an early Cornish saint. The eighteen-hole course plays to a par of 64, considerably shorter than a standard championship layout and closer in character to an executive or par-three-heavy course, with an emphasis on accuracy over length. This part of north Cornwall is dominated by the Camel valley, with steep, wooded sides giving way to open farmland on higher ground, shaped by the same granite geology that runs through Bodmin Moor a few miles to the south. Wadebridge and the Camel Trail, a popular cycling and walking route along a disused railway, sit close by, and the area draws a strong seasonal population from holidaymakers visiting the north Cornwall coast around Padstow and Rock. The lower par makes for a shorter round than most eighteen-hole venues in the county.
