Elland Golf Club

Elland Golf Club is set on rising ground on the western side of Elland, a Calder Valley town lying between Halifax and Huddersfield in West Yorkshire. The course climbs and falls across the hillside above the valley floor, with the layout taking advantage of the natural slope rather than flattened land, giving players changing outlooks over the surrounding countryside as they move between holes. Below the course, the River Calder threads through the valley, and the wider landscape mixes wooded slopes with the stone architecture of former mill villages. Elland grew up around the textile and chemical industries and retains a compact town centre with good road links via the A629 towards Halifax and the M62 a short distance to the south. The club operates as a members' venue, with a clubhouse serving as the social hub after a round, and the parkland character of the course reflects the mature planting found across many of the district's older clubs. Its position on the valley side means several holes offer open views towards the surrounding hills, a feature shared by a number of West Yorkshire's hillside courses.
