Haddington Golf Club

🤍
About this course

Haddington Golf Club dates from 1865, making it one of the older clubs anywhere and one of the world's oldest surviving courses. It occupies 130 acres on the edge of the historic county town of Haddington in East Lothian, ground that retains natural features and supports local wildlife rather than having been entirely reshaped for play. The clubhouse stands on the site of an earlier country house, and some of that building's stonework was reused elsewhere in the district, turning up in a school built at Prestonpans, in the town's Vert Hospital, and in the clubhouse at Longniddry Golf Club. A stable block dating from 1785, designed by John Henderson, still stands near the course, along with the remains of an ice-house, a garden temple, a walled garden and a set of large gate piers marking the old west entrance from the town. The current clubhouse, known as Keating's, provides catering for members and visitors and includes a function room looking out over the surrounding grounds. Membership is arranged across several tiers, from full and senior rates down to junior and flexible options, and the club runs open competitions through the season for visiting golfers.
