Queens Park (Bournemouth) Golf Club

Queen's Park is one of the largest expanses of open ground within Bournemouth itself, a municipal green space threaded with rough grass, mature woodland and a large ornamental pond in the middle of the Dorset seaside town. Unlike courses built on farmland or heathland outside a town's boundary, this one sits inside the urban fabric of Bournemouth, surrounded on most sides by residential streets rather than open countryside, a legacy of the town's Victorian and Edwardian expansion when large parks like this were set aside as public amenity land. Bournemouth's wider character, a resort town built on sand and clifftop pine, with the English Channel a short distance to the south, filters through into the park's own mix of grassland and tree cover. Its position within walking distance of the town centre and surrounding suburbs makes it accessible to residents in a way out-of-town courses are not, functioning as much as a piece of Bournemouth's public green infrastructure as a golf venue in its own right.
