The Royal Town of Caernarfon Golf Club dates back to 1909, giving it more than a century of history in this corner of Gwynedd. It is based near Llanfaglan, just outside Caernarfon, the walled town on the Menai Strait famous for its thirteenth-century castle, built by Edward I and now recognised as a World Heritage Site alongside Beaumaris, Conwy and Harlech. The club's setting places it between the Menai Strait to the north and the mountains of Snowdonia rising inland to the south and east, one of the more dramatic backdrops available to golf in Wales. Caernarfon itself has functioned as an administrative and market centre for this part of Gwynedd for centuries, and remains one of the larger towns in the county despite its modest population. What can be said with confidence is the pedigree: a club now well into its second century of play.
