Ryburn Golf Club

Ryburn Golf Club sits on the hillside at Norland, close to the West Yorkshire towns of Ripponden and Sowerby Bridge, a couple of miles from each. The course rises up the valley side above the meeting point of the Calder and Ryburn rivers, and its elevated position gives golfers a series of outlooks across both valleys as they play. This part of Calderdale is characterised by steep-sided cloughs, stone-built villages and a patchwork of farmland and woodland climbing the hillsides, and the club's setting reflects that landscape closely. Norland is a small settlement above Sowerby Bridge, reached by narrow, climbing lanes typical of the district, while Ripponden lies in the Ryburn valley a short distance to the west. The club describes itself as a friendly venue, and its hillside layout is representative of the golf found across this part of West Yorkshire, where flat fairways are the exception rather than the rule.
