RAF Waddington Golf Club

RAF Waddington Golf Club is based at Lincoln, on the site of one of the Royal Air Force's longest-serving stations, which has operated from its position south of the city since the First World War. Waddington sits on the limestone ridge that runs along Lincoln's southern edge, a line of higher ground known locally as the Lincoln Cliff, above the flatter fen country that spreads out to the south and east. Lincoln itself is dominated by its cathedral, visible for miles across the surrounding Lincolnshire countryside, and the city has grown up around the meeting point of the Cliff ridge and the Witham valley. A course attached to an active airfield sits within a working military site, a setting shared with only a small number of golf clubs in the country. Its position close to Lincoln gives members based on or near the station easy access without needing to travel out into the wider county for a round.
