Sudbrook Moor Golf Club near Grantham in Lincolnshire began as a six-hole course laid out in 1986, before an additional field was purchased in 1990 to extend the layout to nine holes and secure affiliation with the English Golf Union. Rather than stopping at nine, the club developed a second set of flags and greens for the same holes, so that a full round plays as an 18-hole experience using different pin positions on the return nine. Holes on the course range from around 130 to 430 yards, giving a mix of short par threes and longer par fours and fives within a compact site. The club was set up with an emphasis on keeping golf affordable, and that approach continues in its current green fees and membership rates, alongside a handicapping system used for its regular competitions.
