9-Hole Golf Courses in the UK

GeoGolf Course lists 44 nine-hole golf courses across the UK with a confirmed hole count, covering 6 regions. A nine-hole round takes about half the time of a full eighteen. As a result, it usually costs less. Dress codes and membership rules tend to be easier going than at championship venues. Many of these courses sit in regions covered elsewhere in this guide. You can therefore weigh them against nearby eighteen-hole options.

Generally yes. Nine-hole rounds usually cost less than a full eighteen because you play half the holes. The cheapest verified green fee among the nine-hole courses listed here is £9, though fees vary by course, day and season.

A nine-hole round takes about two hours for a fourball. Playing alone or as a pair, it is closer to an hour and a quarter. Since that is roughly half a full round, nine holes suits an evening well.

Nine-hole courses are a common starting point for new golfers. Because the shorter round feels less daunting and the pace is usually more forgiving, many beginners start here. Many nine-hole venues are pay-and-play rather than members-only, so you do not need a handicap certificate before your first round.
